Innovative medical student startup Mandla Health secures R50k funding

Mandla Health

About Mandla Health:

Mandla Health was conceived at a medical sciences laboratory bench, where frustrations over the public health sector were shared.

Time was spent reflecting on how we can improve doctors’ interaction with patients whilst simultaneously empowering patients with information about their health conditions, tools to monitor their health as well as providing a mechanism of improving their medication management.

As existing and budding medical professionals, we developed Mandla Health to tackle these problems. We are passionate about the health of South Africans, particularly our underserved communities. Mandla is the community’s conduit to strength in health.

Founders:

Mark Verryn, Siyavuya Fikamva, Dr Nkanyiso Hadebe, Gilad Shorer

What they do:

Mandla Health is the community’s chronic health app. It is completely free and serves its users in English, isiXhosa, and Afrikaans. It provides South Africa’s underserved communities with empowering health information and tools.
